Content is important, but links are even more so!

I am sure that by now you have heard the old phrase content is king.  I am here to tell you that you’ve been told a bunch of malarkey, because the so called gurus you might be following is blowing smoke up places where it shouldn’t be blown.

This really is the case, even if you may not have heard it before.  I will not tell you the names of sites.  I have to protect them as they are not mine.  I will explain to you that content is NOT King but ONE WAY LINKS ARE KING.

I was hired for a gig to help a client get their webpages higher up in the Google search results.

As with any new client I take a look at what they’re already doing and I was appalled they even were able to get the rankings they currently had.  All of the content was extremely poorly written as if someone with no or very limited English speaking and writing skills had attempted to write the article.  Some of it even looked like it had been spun from a content spinner and not well-written human variations of each sentence but a cheap piece of crap article spinning software.

Due to poor keyword research by the previous SEO guy many of these pages were attempting to compete for very competitive keywords.

A 5 year old could do this good even with only a free article spinner he got in 2 minutes off of download com.

The internal site structure was all messed up, the internal links had things like ‘home’ as anchor text, there was no sitemap, and I don’t even want to get into the trashy incoming links from other sites.

What is the result then? If content was king, these pages cannot be on the first page of ANY search engine. Why speak of Google?  So after this exhaustive research what conclusions can we draw?

No matter whether they are from low quality websites, all had links to their domain.  Next I took a look at their poorly ranking pages to see if there were problems immediately apparent and sure enough there were because these pages had no or very few incoming links.

So I just copied the links from the other pages and in two weeks I was a hero in my clients eyes, due to the fact that they are now on the first page of Google for all the sites they hired my for initially.

I wanted to get fast results so I could prove to them I could handle getting quality links of power so that their sites would remain showing up with first page rankings.

They’ve entrusted their SEO needs to me, and I’ve found that the best way to maximize SEO using web 2.0 marketing blog tactics with lots of links.
