5 SEO Steps For Higher Rankings

by admin on September 20, 2009

For many people, SE Optimization is something that only people with years of experience can master. As a Guaranteed Houston SEO, I believe part of this misunderstanding is due to all the crap spouted out by a lot of SEO companies and individuals. Some do this because they don’t have a clue about SEO while others do it to keep their Clients in the dark about what they really do. Search Engine Optimization is not rocket science peeps. It’s as simple as optimizing your website with a few keywords to tell the search engines what your Website is about. Make it easy for the search eninges to determine what your site is about and show them your site is relevant to the term being searched for and they will reward you with higher rankings.

To set the foundation for your website, the person in charge of obtaining the domain should make certain the main keywords are part of the URL if you can arrange it. All things being equal, a Website with your keywords in the address will outrank a website without the keywords in the domain name.

Next, the you keywords should be used in the Name of your Website. By doing this, you’re helping search engines like MSN determine what your Website is about.

Your keywords should also be used as the Title of each page also, or at least, you should use some keywords in the title of the page or article. This also helps the search engines figure out what the page is about, what words to rank it for and how relevant it is. As an added benefit, the Website or Blog should be designed so that the Page Title is in the H1 tag. Search engines rely a great deal on the H1 to tell them what the page is about and how relevant it is. If your Houston web designer does not know how to do this, find one that does.

If you have that done, it’s important that the keywords you want to rank for show up within the page itself. I like to insert the keywords into the first paragraph somewhere and at least once in the last paragraph. A few more times between the first and last paragraph won’t hurt, just be sure you work them in the first part of the page and again at the end.

Lastly, the most important aspect of Website SE Optimization actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in ranking a Website is backlinks going back to your Web page. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these backlinks need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the backlinks.

How important are backward links? Well, I can rank a website that doesn’t have the keywords in the domain, one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored links back to your site leading back to your site, {it’s impossible} to to get higher rankings in the search engines for any terms that are the least bit in high demand.
